Cookie Policy
Last updated: 2026-04-17
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device to remember information about your visit. They are widely used to make websites work, to make them work more efficiently, and to provide analytics or user-experience improvements.
2. Our approach: strictly necessary only
UnboundBytes uses cookies sparingly. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking pixels, cross-site analytics, or any cookie-based profiling. The cookies we set are either strictly necessary to operate the Service or functional preferences (for example, theme choice) that you control.
3. Cookies we use
Strictly necessary
- Session cookie (HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Strict) — authenticates you while you are signed in. Expires when you sign out or when the session expires. Without this cookie the portal cannot function.
- CSRF protection token — protects form submissions against cross-site request forgery. Short-lived, tied to the session cookie.
Functional
- Theme preference — remembers your light/dark-mode choice. Stored in localStorage rather than a cookie where supported.
- Onboarding progress — tracks which onboarding steps you have completed, so you are not re-prompted. Stored in localStorage where supported.
Analytics
We do not use third-party analytics cookies (no Google Analytics, no Segment, no tracking pixels). We collect aggregated, server-side performance metrics (HTTP status, latency, error counts) that do not rely on cookies and do not identify individuals.
Advertising
We do not use advertising cookies. We do not sell or share data with advertisers.
4. Your choices
Because our cookies are strictly necessary or purely functional, we do not display a cookie banner. You can still control cookies through your browser settings — blocking the session cookie will log you out and prevent you from signing in.
Most browsers let you:
- View and delete cookies.
- Block cookies from specific sites.
- Block all third-party cookies.
- Clear cookies when the browser closes.
Consult your browser's help documentation for the specific steps.
5. Changes to this policy
If we begin using additional cookies (for example, opt-in analytics), we will update this Cookie Policy and present an in-product notice before the change takes effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes.
